Ryan Howard goes 0-for-3 in loss to Reds

by Kerry Kauffman | Sun, May 15th 6:56pm EDT

The Phillies banged out 12 hits, but scored only four times in a 9-4 loss to the Reds on Sunday. Ryan Howard was one of only two starters without a hit, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout and a walk. Howard continues to struggle overall and is batting just .174 for the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Howard will likely continue to see the bulk of the time at first base no matter how bad he's hitting. Darin Ruf was sent to the minors and Tommy Joseph, although will see some time at first, has only one game of Major League experience under his belt. The only positive with Howard's game right now is that he's still capable of hitting the long ball, having left the park eight times this season.
