Jason Heyward makes ridiculous catch, may be injured

by Chris Zolli | Dodgers Correspondent | Sat, May 21st 9:46am EDT

Jason Heyward had walked in his first at-bat in the top of the first inning and then made an amazing catch in the bottom of the first inning to rob Denard Span of an extra-base hit. Heyward left the game with a rib injury, but fortunately said that his ribs were not broken. There will be an MRI today, so fantasy owners need to keep that in mind for their lineups on Saturday. Fantasy Impact:

Heyward may be the best defensive right-fielder in baseball, but his .611 OPS is the worst of any RF in baseball as well. He has only six extra-base hits and a .225 batting average this season, showing no pop in his first season with the Cubs. Although he has not shown pop this season, he does have a .329 OBP because of his 21 walks, 20 runs scored, and five stolen bases, giving some value for fantasy owners. Considering that he has had his offensive issues and that he may be injured, bench Heyward through the weekend.
