Lorenzo Cain scores a run on Wednesday, skeptical play on Thursday

by Chris Zolli | Thu, May 26th 7:24am EDT

Lorenzo Cain finished 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored against the Twins on Wednesday. Cain has a .440 batting average over the last seven games and is 3-for-6 with a home run against the White Sox probable starter on Thursday, Miguel Gonzalez. He has a .770 OPS this season.

Fantasy Impact:

Cain has a .356 batting average and 17 RBI in May, being tremendously productive over the last 10 games in particular. He has hits in eight of his last 10 games, and in the two games that he did not have a hit, he had a run and RBI respectively. Combining his successful run and his successes against Miguel Gonzalez, Cain should be valued as an OF2 tonight. The only cautionary tale are his splits, as he has a .950 OPS against left-handed pitchers and .727 OPS against right-handed pitchers (Gonzalez is a right-handed pitcher) and that his OPS is nearly 400 points better on the road (.935 vs. .537) and the game is in Kansas City.
