Keep Brett Gardner out of all lineups on Saturday

by Chris Zolli | Sat, May 28th 11:07am EDT

Brett Gardner does have two doubles against Matt Moore, but that is about it, as he is 3-for-15 against the Rays' projected starter on Saturday. He is also mirred in a 1-for-18 slump over the last 10 games and only has a .200 batting average in May. Gardner is hitless in five of his last six games to see his batting average drop to .225.

Fantasy Impact:

For a player like Gardner, he needs to get on base to fulfill his stolen base potential and he is getting on base enough, as he has a .354 OBP, he is just not hitting the ball. He walked twice against the Rays on Friday night, and is sixth in the American League with 26 walks, leading to eight stolen bases, which are eighth in the American League. His .452 OPS against left-handed pitchers and .566 OPS on the road make Gardner an unattractive pick for Saturday, but hold out for speed and run scored potential in season long leagues.
