Jon Lester continues to be masterful
by Chris Zolli | Thu, Jun 2nd 7:22am EDT
Jon Lester allowed one run in a complete game for the Cubs against the Dodgers, moving to 6-3 on the season. Lester struck out 10 batters without a walk and leads baseball with eight starts where he allowed one run or fewer. He has a 2.29 ERA and 1.02 WHIP this season and will face the Phillies in his next start.
Fantasy Impact:
While his six wins have hindered his fantasy value a bit, making him more like a mid-level SP2, everything else that Lester has done in 2016 shows that he can be a low-mid level SP1. Nine of his 11 starts this season have been quality starts, and one was a scoreless appearance where he only pitched 5 2/3 innings, and he has limited batters to a .214 batting average. He has limited current Phillies batters to a .636 OPS and only six extra-base hits in 85 at-bats.
