Brett Gardner showing signs of breaking out of season-long slump

by Dan Harris | Tue, Jun 7th 9:31am EDT

Brett Gardner is on pace to have one of his worst full seasons in the majors, as he's currently projected to bat just .237 with 80 runs scored, 14 home runs, 34 RBI, and 28 stolen bases. Gardner has shown signs of heating up, however, tallying eight hits in his last 16 at-bats.

Fantasy Impact:

Gardner can't do much to increase his RBI total, since his lack of RBI can be attributed more to the Yankees' poor lineup, but it would be nice to see him up his batting average at least. With steals down across the board, Gardner's 10 thefts this season make him a valuable commodity, even if the rest of his game is suffering. Hopefully, Gardner's recent hot streak is a sign of things to come.
