Madison Bumgarner

Madison Bumgarner with another quality start

by Chris Zolli | Thu, Jun 9th 7:24am EDT

Madison Bumgarner pitched six innings against the Red Sox on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and striking out five batters in the no-decision. His ERA dipped further to 1.88 and he now has a 1.07 WHIP and 99 strikeouts in 86 innings this season. Bumgarner will face the Brewers on June 14 in his next start.

Fantasy Impact:

Although he was matched by David Price through six innings on Wednesday, Bumgarner is still a fringe top-five SP and has pitched at least six innings in each of his last 10 starts, allowing less than two earned runs in each of those starts. He has held hitters to a .208 batting average and his 10.4 strikeouts per nine would be the best of his career and mark the fifth straight season that he boosted his strikeouts per nine. The current Brewers are surprisingly very successful against Bumgarner, posting a .874 OPS, so it might be a good idea to fade him next Tuesday.
