Evan Longoria hits 17th home run on Saturday

by Mike Werner | Sat, Jun 18th 8:37pm EDT

Evan Longoria went 2-for-3 with a double, walk, and a solo home run in the Rays loss to the Giants.

Fantasy Impact:

Longoria got the scoring started, blasting the first pitch he saw from Giants starter Albert Saurez into the left field seats. He missed one game after leaving Wednesday's tilt against Seattle early due to a forearm issue, but all seems to be fine on that front. The home run is Longoria's 17th of the season, and eighth in the month of June so far. The 30-year old who's been trending down in fantasy production these last few years currently owns a .278/.336/.549 line with 41 RBI and 39 runs scored. He's one pace to hit 41 home runs and drive in 100. He hasn't reached 30 home runs since 2013, and hasn't driven in 100 since 2010. This resurgence could leave an opportunity for fantasy owners to sell him while he's hot, as he's only the 11th ranked third baseman in fantasy despite the lofty numbers.
