Ryan Howard's average continues to drop

by Kerry Kauffman | Wed, Jun 22nd 12:31am EDT

The Phillies broke out with 14 hits and 10 runs on Tuesday, yet dropped to 30-42 with a 14-10 loss to the Twins. Ryan Howard hit cleanup but continued to be a non-factor, going 0-for-5 with two strikeouts. Howard's average has now dwindled to a anemic .140 for the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Howard's numbers are an embarrassment, with an on-base percentage of .198 and OPS of .531. Howard is on pace to hit 23 home runs, but at this stage of his career, provides nothing else offensively. Owners that are desperate for occasional power might consider Howard, but most should avoid him at this point.
