CC Sabathia loses it in the eighth inning

by Chris Zolli | Wed, Jun 29th 5:53pm EDT

CC Sabathia allowed six runs on eight hits in seven innings against the Rangers on Tuesday night, but ineffective defense (from himself and Chase Headley) allowed four of those runs to be scored in the top of the eighth inning. This poor inning means that Sabathia has now allowed 11 runs over his last two starts and has a 3.17 ERA this season. He is 5-5 and will face the Padres on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact:

Unfortunately neither Sabathia's blunder nor Headley's misplay were errors, so fantasy owners just have to deal with the fact that he pitched well yet allowed six runs. It was a good sign that Sabathia allowed two runs over the first seven innings against one of the best offenses in baseball and he is still a decent SP4. Current Padres' batters have a .900 OPS and nine home runs against Sabathia in 148 at-bats.
