Jacoby Ellsbury reaches base twice on Thursday

by Chris Zolli | Thu, Jun 30th 7:27pm EDT

Even though Jacoby Ellsbury finished 0-for-2 against the Rangers on Thursday, he still reached base twice via the walk. This is the second straight game where Ellsbury walked twice, a great sign for those in OBP leagues, but he has a .263 batting average his month. He has a .734 OPS this season.

Fantasy Impact:

A leadoff hitter needs to get on base and steal bases and Ellsbury has done just that over the last four games, as he has stolen two bases and reached base in each game. While those are positive trends in the short run, Ellsbury has also seen his batting average drop from .284 to .271 over the last ten games, going without a multi-hit game since June 18.
