Max Scherzer cannot stop the Brewers once again

by Chris Zolli | Rangers Correspondent | Mon, Jul 4th 2:42pm EDT

For the second time in two weeks, Max Scherzer lost to the Brewers, allowing one run on four hits in six innings of the Nationals' 1-0 loss to the Brewers on Monday. Scherzer only struck out seven batters, ending his four game stretch of double-digit strikeouts, and walked three batters for the second straight start against Milwaukee. He has a 3.21 ERA this season and will face the Mets on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact:

It is simple to say that the Brewers own Scherzer this season, as he allowed five runs in seven innings on June 24 against Milwaukee, but he still leads the National League with 155 strikeouts and is third with a 0.97 WHIP. If there is any owner willing to give up on Scherzer, acquire him, as he is a safe bet for eight or more strikeouts per start while minimizing baserunners. Current Mets have a .672 OPS in 283 at-bats against Scherzer and Scherzer is 1-1 with 20 strikeouts and a 1.32 ERA in 13 2/3 innings against New York this season.
