Matt Harvey could be done for the season

by Chris Zolli | Thu, Jul 7th 5:53pm EDT

Matt Harvey has been diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome symptoms, potentially ending his 2016 season. Reports say that he could either take nerve shots to numb the pain or will have season-ending surgery, which has a nearly four month rehab attached. ESPN's Adam Rubin stated that Harvey felt numbness in his fingers while pitching on July 4, signaling that there was an issue. Either way, Harvey will require surgery on the issue, be it a season-ending surgery or an offseason surgery. (Anthony DiComo on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

It is bad to say that dropping Harvey in standard leagues is the best thing, but, at a minimum, look to trade him to someone that is holding out hope that he can pitch well through this injury. Those in keeper leagues should hope that he elects to go under the knife as soon as possible, not to disturb his 2017 season or the future.
