Jim Johnson notches second save as Braves blank White Sox

by Steve Painter | Sun, Jul 10th 6:19pm EDT

Coach Brian Snitker opted to go with Johnson for the save Sunday over Arodys Vizcaino and some thought that Viz was in the doghouse after hitting a rough patch but Snitker quieted the rumors after revealing that Viz had a rash on his elbow and they were just giving him rest and most importantly, that he would be back in the closer's role come Friday, when play resumes after the all-star break. Today, Johnson allowed only one base hit in the ninth and saved the game for Mike Foltynewicz and the team.

Fantasy Impact:

Johnson holds little value for most fantasy rosters and should be used sparingly in others. His prime has passed and he is used in the seventh and eighth innings to bolster a young starting rotation. He may grab an occasional hold or save but not enough to warrant a roster spot.
