Justin Morneau eyes comeback

by Sanni Mohammed-Haruna | Fri, Jul 15th 7:24pm EDT

The Sox have activated first baseman Justin Morneau from the 15-day disabled list and optioned outfielder Jason Coats to Triple-A Charlotte. Morneau, age 35, has been in a rehab stint with the White Sox Double-A affiliate after off-season elbow surgery. (Chicago Sun-Times)

Fantasy Impact:

Its been 10 years since Morneau was an MVP, and the shtick with him has been his health. Expectations should be tempered, but in his two most recent years with the Rockies (2014-15) his batting line in 184 games of .316/.363/.487 is nothing to sneer at. If the Sox manage to catch fire in the second half, expect Morneau to fill the Adam LaRoche role at DH, as the production from Avisail Garcia has not been up to par so far this season.
