Doug Fister pitched seven scoreless innings allowing four hits while striking out five batters. The Astros shut out the Athletics 7-0.

Fister owns a 10-6 record in 19 starts this season with a 3.42 ERA. He may not have blazing velocity or strike many batters out, but he owns the corners of the plate and has learned where he needs to place the ball to be successful. He has factored in to the decision his last nine outings, owning a 6-3 mark during that stretch. Fister has been the most consistent Astros starting pitcher this season.
