Matt Carpenter cleared for baseball activities

by Chris Zolli | Cardinals Correspondent | Sat, Jul 23rd 12:14pm EDT

Matt Carpenter has been cleared to field ground balls and have limited throws to first base. He is on the disabled list with an oblique injury and could be nearing a rehab stint in the minor league. Carpenter last played on July 6 and has a .988 OPS this season.

Fantasy Impact:

Carpenter's addition to a fantasy lineup could swing a playoff race, as he has 2B/3B eligibility and elite run scoring potential to go along with stellar plate discipline and power. He is a potential top-15 player for the rest of the season and fantasy owners need to be aware that he needs to be activated from the disabled list soon.
