Felix Hernandez shows flashes of old form

by John Trupin | Mon, Aug 1st 12:40am EDT

In a mixture of dominance and difficulties, Felix Hernandez kept the Cubs guessing, with eight strikeouts through five innings. Unfortunately, Hernandez had stretches of poor control that led to a brief outing and both of the runs, despite allowing just two hits. A Steve Cishek blown save lost Hernandez a shot at the win.

Fantasy Impact:

The eight strikeouts are promising, while the five walks cause concern. Hernandez is being cautious. His stuff is clearly still excellent, but with a smaller margin for error. Until Hernandez settles in with his command of his current stuff, starts like this are probably the norm.
