Madison Bumgarner allowed eight runs (four earned) over five innings on Tuesday against the Phillies. Bumgarner gave up 10 hits and two walks, striking out four. He did not factor into the decision.
Fantasy Impact:
If you were told that Bumgarner would get eight runs of support against the Phillies, you would have thought that his getting a win would be the surest bet in sports. Bumgarner just never looked comfortable on the mound, and the Phillies were squaring up the ball all night. You can almost assuredly disregard this start as a blip in the radar, and expect Bumgarner to pitch better against the Nationals this weekend.
