Jay Bruce has big first hit for Mets

by Chris Zolli | Fri, Aug 5th 8:17am EDT

Jay Bruce was hitless in his first two games with the Mets and was only 1-for-4 last night, but his one hit was a three-run home run that provided the margin in a 4-1 win for the Mets over the Yankees. Bruce has not had a multi-hit game since July 25, but still has 26 home runs and 83 RBI. Bruce has an .863 OPS this season.

Fantasy Impact:

Bruce had a five-game home run streak at the end of July, seeing his stock soar, and leads the National League with 83 RBI. His value is tied to his power and, when Yoenis Cespedes returns, Bruce will maintain his top-10 OF status.
