Brandon McCarthy walks five in 3 2/3 innings
by Stan Son | Sun, Aug 7th 9:12pm EDT
Brandon McCarthy allowed two hits, two earned runs, and walked five in 3 2/3 innings Sunday against the Boston Red Sox. 31-of-65 pitches were thrown for strikes.
Fantasy Impact:
The five walks were a season-high and it was the first game in seven starts that McCarthy has not notched a strikeout. He has now gone three straight starts without reaching the five inning mark. The strikeout potential is tantalizing, but injury and control issues will remain a possibility. As of now, McCarthy is next scheduled to start at home to face the Pittsburgh Pirates, a team that ranks 18th in OPS against RHP.
