Zack Greinke looks to distance himself from nightmare outing

by Chris Zolli | Wed, Aug 17th 7:52pm EDT

Zack Greinke allowed nine runs on 10 hits in 1 2/3 innings against the Red Sox on Sunday in his second start off of the disabled list. Coming into Sunday's game, and after missing July, Greinke had won eight consecutive decisions. He is 11-4 with a 4.31 ERA and 1.22 WHIP and will start on August 19 against San Diego.

Fantasy Impact:

Rust and facing the best offense in baseball could have been the reason for his poor start, as he allowed three runs in six innings against the Mets in his first start off of the disabled list. His ERA and WHIP numbers are considerably down either way, while his strikeouts per nine have dropped from 8.08 in 2015 to 7.62 in 2016, and he is a low-grade SP2 at best. Current Padres batters have a .549 OPS in 170 career at-bats against Greinke and he is 6-1 with a 3.51 ERA on the road this season.
