Evan Gattis clobbers 20th season home run Wednesday

by James Ignatius Zeankowski | Wed, Aug 24th 4:37pm EDT

Getting another start at catcher during Wednesday afternoon's rubber match 5-4 series win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, Evan Gattis went 1-for-3 with a drawn walk and his 20th home run of 2016 worth two runs to give him 51 RBI so far. While also grounding out twice, Gattis has kept to a steady .241 average and .774 OPS on the season.

Fantasy Impact:

With today's long ball, Evan Gattis becomes one of only eight active players to have 20 or more home runs in their first four seasons. Ironically, this is only Evan's 4th season in the majors, as he joins the likes of Yoenis Cespedes, Giancarlo Stanton, Evan Longoria, Jay Bruce, Ryan Braun, Albert Pujols, and Mark Texeria in that regard, which is some pretty decent company as far as power is concerned. Additionally, Evan Gattis has an August stat line of .297/.358/.486 and a Post All Star Break stat line of .295/350/518. All of this while El Oso Blanco has been hitting a very healthy .309 since his gnome night stadium giveaway at home against the Los Angeles Angels back on July 23rd. With all of this in mind, fantasy owners, you need to keep starting Evan Gattis without fail!
