Matt Moore comes one batter short of no-hitter

by Chris Zolli | Angels Correspondent | Fri, Aug 26th 7:22am EDT

Matt Moore took a no-hitter all the way to two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, striking out seven batters and walking three, before Corey Seager singled to end the bid for history. Moore is 1-3 with a 3.41 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 29 strikeouts in 31 2/3 innings this month. He is 8-10 with a 3.95 ERA this season and will face the Diamondbacks in San Francisco on August 31.

Fantasy Impact:

Moore had not won since being traded from the Rays, but had allowed three runs or less in three of four games coming into Thursday. He has only pitched one career complete game, and he pitched 8 2/3 innings last night, but has walked at least three batters in each of his five starts with San Francisco. Current Diamondbacks' hitters have a .988 OPS in 28 career at-bats against Moore and he is 0-2 with a 6.55 ERA at AT&T Park this season.
