Will Sam Dyson be trade bait

by Mitch Cox | Tue, Dec 6th 1:44am EST

The Rangers recently tendered a contract to closer Sam Dyson, but could that be part of a sign-and-trade plan? According to Ken Rosenthal on Twitter, teams looking for closers "include NYY, SF, LAD, WAS, MIA." With the Giants signing Mark Melancon, and the Dodgers wanting to re-sign Kenley Jansen, Adam Morris of Lone Star Ball thinks Dyson might be a player those remaining teams might have an interest in.

Fantasy Impact:

What would trading Dyson mean to the Rangers? Probably a move to the closer role for Matt Bush. Morris thinks Bush is still better suited as a set-up man because of his ability to pitch more than an inning at a time and his struggles pitching with no rest. Of course the big question, is there any player on those teams that fit the Rangers current need for a starting pitcher, a first baseman or an outfielder?
