Mitch Haniger picks up clutchest hit of his career Saturday
Mitch Haniger went 4-for-5 with five RBIs, one run and one strikeout in the Mariners 6-4 win on Saturday against the Angels.
Haniger opened up the scoring with a single that scored Ty France in the third inning. He later launched a two-run long ball in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie, which at the time appeared to be his biggest hit of the game until the eighth inning came around. The Mariners were trailing 4-3 with the bases loaded and two outs after Ty France hit a soft groundball that saw Jarred Kelenic get thrown out at home on a force out. Haniger worked the count to 3-2 against Steve Cishek, taking advantage of a sinker up the middle to hit it into left field to give the Mariners a 5-4 lead as Haniger was visibly hyped up in front of a sold out crowd at T-Mobile Park. The Mariners playoff hopes are still alive heading into the final game of the regular season on Sunday.
