The White Sox official Twitter account announced that Yermin Mercedes suffered a hamate fracture in his left hand and is scheduled for surgery on Monday. The projected recovery time is 6-8 weeks.
Fantasy Impact
This is a tough blow for the 29-year old C/DH. Mercedes wasn't a shoo-in to make the Opening Day roster for the Sox, but he certainly will not be there now. Mercedes hit .271/.328/.404 in 68 games in the majors in 2021.
