David Leisering Mon, Mar 30th | McKenzie carries a 5.46 ERA across 24 big-league appearances (20 starts) since 2023 into Padres camp as a non-roster invitee, but his arm has shown something new this spring. He gained weight over the offseason and pitched in winter ball for the first time, and his four-seamer is averaging 95.7 mph — up two full mph from last season. McKenzie has never touched 97 mph in a major-league game, but he topped that mark 10 times in his most recent Cactus League outing and peaked at 98.8 mph.
