Daniel Ponce de Leon struck out six over six innings, allowing one earned run on one hit and two walks as the Cardinals topped the Brewers 9-1 in game two of their doubleheader on Friday. He allowed a solo home run to Orlando Arcia in the sixth inning. The Cardinal improved to 29-27 with the victory and are tied with the playoff bound Reds for Second Place in the NL Central.

Tanner Rainey (forearm) has been placed on the IL retroactive to September 12th with a right flexor strain. The right-hander had an MRI come back negative earlier this week but with the Nationals out of playoff contention they are playing it safe with their set-up man. Aaron Barrett has been recalled in a corresponding move.

Daniel Ponce de Leon allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks with nine strikeouts over five innings pitched in Game Two on Friday. The Cardinals won the game 7-2 and moved to 24-24 with the victory. They are tied with the Reds for second place in the NL Central, both teams are .500, but the Cardinals have played four fewer games this season.

Daniel Ponce de Leon pitched great for the Cardinals on Monday as they defeated the Brewers 3-2 in Game Two of a doubleheader. Ponce de Leon went six innings allowing two earned runs on a home run by former teammate Jedd Gyorko, four hits, one walk and recorded nine strike outs. The strike outs matched a career high set against the Padres in June, 2019. Brewers starter Corbin Burnes recorded 10 strikeouts on the evening and it appeared to fans watching the game from home that home plate umpire Manny Gonzalez was calling a wide strike zone so fantasy owners should temper their expectations for Ponce de Leon's future strikeouts. The Cardinals are 21-21 on the season and in Second Place in the NL Central.
