Dorian Finney-Smith fills in for injured Wesley Matthews

Starting small forward Wesley Matthews went down with a right hip strain midway through the Dallas Mavericks’ blowout victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday afternoon. Dorian Finney-Smith filled in for Matthews by scoring seven points and grabbing seven rebounds in more than 33 minutes of play.

Fantasy Impact:

Word is that Matthews did not suffer a significant injury and that he will play on Wednesday against the New York Knicks. Fortunately for Matthews, he has plenty of time to recover and get ready for that game. If he is limited somehow by that injury, you can expect to see Finney-Smith benefit with more playing time and production than he has been getting lately. He has started 27 games this year and has registered double figures in points six times. His fantasy value is low but if he’s forced into action, it will likely see a bump.
