Deron Williams struggles, Mavericks lose

by Tom Williams | Thu, Feb 16th 10:35am EST

Deron Williams shot 4-for-14 from the field and hit 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, finishing with 12 points and six assists in a 98-91 loss to the Pistons on Wednesday night. As a team, the Mavericks shot only 38.5 percent, so Williams was not alone in struggling with his shot.

Fantasy Impact:

The Pistons have been hard to read lately. They’ve struggled to defend against the point guard position at times, and the Mavericks have had remarkable production from their point guards lately. Wednesday night was just a different story, apparently. Williams played nearly 30 minutes in this game, showing he’s back to full strength from his toe injury suffered back in January. Barring a trade, the Mavericks backcourt could become very crowded in the second half of the season. Williams is likely to see a reduce amount of minutes, especially if the Mavericks fall out of contention and start playing their younger players.
