DeMarcus Cousins hopes to sign extension with Kings

by Sean Fitzpatrick | Fri, Feb 17th 10:25am EST

DeMarcus Cousins hopes to sign an extension this summer with the Kings. Cousins even went as far as saying that he wants "his jersey retired in the rafters" in Sacramento. Cousins has many reasons to stay in Sacramento with an extension expected to be a five-year deal worth north of $200 million. The Kings are currently 9th in the Western Conference a game and a half out of the 8th seed which is Denver at the moment so trading their best player seems unlikely. (ESPN.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Cousins needs more help in Sacramento but the emergence of Darren Collison, Matt Barnes and Ben McLemore could push the Kings closer to that 8th seed. However, injuries has taken all of their depth with players such as Rudy Gay, Garrett Temple, Malachi Richardson and Omri Casspi all missing extended time. For Cousins, he's having his best scoring season averaging 27.8 points per game which is fourth in the NBA.
