Brian Lewis reported that the Nets are targeting a return for D'Angelo Russell sometime between January 5 and 12. Russell had arthroscopic knee surgery on Nov 17. (Brian Lewis on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

This is one of the first definitive reports we have seen on when D'Angelo will return to action, although there had been previous mention of a seven to eight week timetable from surgery, which this report falls in line with. Once Russell does return he is expected to regain the starting point guard spot from Spencer Dinwiddie, although Dinwiddie has played admirably in Russell's absence, and it remains to be seen how quickly Brooklyn will ramp up D'Angelo's workload or if Kenny Atkinson may be inclined to try playing the two point guards together. Regardless of how the rotation takes shape, Russell is clearly the most talented player on Brooklyn's offense and was showing as much prior to his knee injury. Once back and running the show for one of the fastest paced teams in the NBA, he will make for an excellent fantasy option for the remainder of the season.
