Jonas Valanciunas puts up monstrous performance against Pistons

by Alex Murray | Pelicans Correspondent | Thu, Jan 18th 12:53am EST

Jonas Valanciunas scored 17 points on 42 percent shooting from the field during the Raptors' 96-91 win over the Pistons on Wednesday. Valanciunas also grabbed a whopping 16 rebounds to go with a trio of assists and a swat in 27 minutes of action.

Fantasy Impact:

Valanciunas hadn't seen 27 minutes in one game since December 17th, exactly one month ago, and in that one he put up 13 and 15 in another Raptors win. Valanciunas has put up great double-double numbers when he gets the chance, but its anyone's guess when he will get those minutes. When they play teams with a big man like the Pistons have in Andre Drummond you should expect big minutes, but he saw just 14 minutes against Joel Embiid in Philly so who really knows at this point. He's erratic, but at the end of the day he's still averaging 11.3 points and 8.8 rebounds on 61 percent from the field and 81 percent from the line this month. Beware of his standard deviation though, it's one of the biggest in the league.
