Dwight Howard being traded to the Nets

by Clinton H. | Wed, Jun 20th 11:36am EDT

The Charlotte Hornets are finalizing a deal to send Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets for Timofey Mozgov and two future second-round picks. The Nets will save $17M on the deal in 2019-20, allowing them to create two max salary slots. (Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

In what appears to be purely a money move for both teams, the Hornets will unload Howard in an effort to get under the luxury tax while the Nets could make a run at big name free agents next season with two max salary slots. This ultimately is bad news in the short term for Jarrett Allen's stock since Howard will likely be the starting center. Willy Hernangomez should see extra minutes in Charlotte with Howard's departure.
