Michael Porter Jr.: Boom or bust?

by Josh Williams | Nuggets Correspondent | Mon, Sep 17th 8:38am EDT

Michael Porter Jr. was selected at pick #14 by the Denver Nuggets in the 2018 NBA Draft. There were talks about Porter Jr. going first overall until concerns about his back gifted him to the Denver Nuggets midway through the first round of the draft. He only played a few games at Missouri before being plagued by a season-ending injury. Porter Jr. was drafted because of his upside, and his season will be very dependent on his rehab. He has superb athleticism and will look to prove that this season. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Michael Porter Jr. proves to be one of the biggest question marks from the 2018 draft. In a league that is becoming dependent on teams with one or more superstar, The Nuggets drafted Porter Jr. hoping that he could accompany Nikola Jokic in this role. Porter Jr. could prove to be the best rookie in the NBA this season, but this feat will not be possible if his injury keeps him off the court. The rookie does not have much fantasy upside to open the season, but his draft stock could grow in popularity as his health strengthens.
