Jimmy Butler is not expected to be traded before opener

by Sean Fitzpatrick | Heat Correspondent | Tue, Oct 9th 7:14pm EDT

The Minnesota Timberwolves are not expected to complete a trade involving star Jimmy Butler before the season opener on Oct 17th against the Spurs. Butler has demanded to be traded and according to reports, he will get his wish but not before the season opens. Keita Bates-Diop is a player who will see more minutes when Butler is moved. Fantasy Impact:

Of course, the Wolves wanted to keep Butler in Minnesota as long as possible to up his trade value but at what cost for this season. Miami seems to be the frontrunner and Josh Richardson is a piece in the deal. Once a deal is complete, Andrew Wiggins and Jeff Teague get a nice boost while Keita Bates-Diop and Luol Deng also benefit. Butler is still an early-round pick on either the Heat or Wolves. If he's traded to a contender like the 76ers, that could change slightly but not enough to push him back in re-draft leagues.
