Jazz center Rudy Gobert won the 2018-19 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.
Fantasy Impact:
Gobert won the award for the second straight year over some stiff competition in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Paul George. He averaged 2.3 blocks and a career-high 12.9 rebounds in 2018. Both of those numbers ranked in the top-5 in the NBA. The “Stifle Tower” becomes just the 10th player in NBA history with at least two DPOY awards.
