Thaddeus Young drops 18 off bench in Wednesday's win over Wizards

Thaddeus Young led the bench with 18 points last night on an efficient 7-of-9, draining all three of his attempts from downtown. He also snagged eight rebounds, had two steals, and a block over his 21 minutes.

Fantasy Impact:

Young had a solid effort last night as his 18 points match his month-high. He's already averaging 24.4 minutes for the month of January, which would be his highest of the season. The veteran may have stumbled into a starting role with injuries plaguing the team and the Bulls finding themselves without a healthy center. Wendell Carter Jr. sprained his ankle about a week ago and rookie Daniel Gafford dislocated his thumb last night. The team gave them each a 2-to-4 week timetable to return. While Young isn't a true center, the Bulls run a smallball lineup where he shares responsibilities at the four and five slot with Lauri Markkanen. Both Young and Luke Kornet should see an uptick in playing time with the recent injuries, but the former is the only one worth a look in fantasy. If he's available on your waiver wire, snag him before it's too late.
