D'Angelo Russell thrives in Timberwolves' debut

by Dave Kluge | Lakers Correspondent | Mon, Feb 10th 10:11pm EST

D'Angelo Russell had a solid debut for the Timberwolves by recording 22 points (7-12 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five assists, one rebound, and one steal over 31 minutes in Monday's 137-126 loss to the red-hot Raptors.

Fantasy Impact:

Russell was one of the biggest names to move at the trade deadline and made an immediate impact on his new squad, combing with Karl-Anthony Towns for 45 points in their first game, although they suffered a loss. Russell averaged 23.6 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game this season with the Warriors. While his rebounds might take a slight dip with the Timberwolves, expect his scoring and assist numbers to go up as he and Towns will be getting high usage as the team's only weapons and opening up scoring opportunities for each other. Russell's next opportunity as the team's new point guard will be Wednesday against the Hornets.
