D'Angelo Russell leads team with 29 in Monday's losing effort

D'Angelo Russell recorded a team-high 29 points (10-20 FG, 3-8 3PT, 6-6 FT), five assists, three rebounds, and one steal over 31 minutes in Monday's 139-123 loss to the Mavericks.

Fantasy Impact:

Russell was a game-time decision while dealing with a few injuries and inevitably cleared to play on Monday, while superstar teammate Karl-Anthony Towns was still out with a wrist injury. Without Towns on the court Russell put up his lowest assist total and highest scoring effort since being traded to the Timberwolves. This trend should continue until Towns returns to the court as the team has few other threats to score. Another trend that could continue is how the Timberwolves deal with injuries going forward. Seeing as how the season is all-but-mathematically-over don't be surprised to see the team start to play a more conservative approach with their two biggest assets by giving them extra time for recovery as they change their focus to next season.
