Jordan McLaughlin comes back down to earth in loss to Mavericks

by Joel E. Ruffin Jr. | Timberwolves Correspondent | Tue, Feb 25th 1:09pm EST

Jordan McLaughlin totaled five points (2-4 FG, 1-1 3PT, 0-0 FT), one rebound, one assist, and one steal in 13 minutes in the Timberwolves’ 139-123 loss to the Mavericks on Monday.

Fantasy Impact:

After coming off of a spectacular performance in which he had 10 assists and 15 points scoring, McLaughlin came crashing back down to earth in his limited minutes off the bench. Interestingly enough, in each of the three games where he has seen 30 minutes or more of playing time, the rookie has averaged 18 points and 9.3 assists. It is a tremendously small sample size; however, it shows that when provided the opportunity, McLaughlin has the potential to post top-line performances. Unfortunately, barring any additional injuries to D'Angelo Russell, it seems as if he will fail to see that level of opportunity consistently, making him, for the most part, a high-risk high-reward flier for those in deep leagues.
