Spencer Dinwiddie took to social media Friday night, telling his fans and that if he could raise Bitcoin valued at roughly $24.6M, he would sign a one-year deal with the team of their choice. (Shams Charania on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

This is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. Many people are probably asking if this is even legal under the collective bargaining agreement. Dinwiddie did say that, “I hope no owners/team personnel participate so there’s no impropriety on this one of a kind endorsement deal.” He’s technically under contract with Brooklyn through 2022, but has a player option for 2021. The “Tech guy with a jumper” is using his platform to try something completely new and different, and if it works, he could be opening up a completely new way of doing business in the NBA. If he doesn’t reach the $24.6M threshold, he’ll donate all the money he does raise to charity, so either way it’ll be a positive and unique outcome. Dinwiddie has resurrected his career with the Nets in the last three years, especially in the absence of Kyrie Irving. Before the 2019-20 season was suspended, he was averaging career-highs of 20.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6.8 assists in 31 minutes per game.
