Dennis Smith reportedly could be on the move as the Knicks attempt to tighten their salary cap this upcoming off-season. “The Knicks would love to pawn off the final year of Dennis Smith’s contract at $5.7 million,” said Marc Berman of the New York Post. (Marc Berman of the New York Post)
“They may have to add Kevin Knox ($4.6 million), whom the Post reported Knicks’ President Leon Rose isn’t sold on, or Frank Ntilikina’s ($6.2 million), too,” Berman added. Dennis Smith has a qualifying offer for $7.7 million for the 2021-2022 season. The Knicks are interested in acquiring PG Chris Paul via trade and could move on from Smith. A change of scenery would only help Smith’s fantasy value. The Knicks will weigh out their options as they look to gain cap flexibility this off-season. Smith averaged 5.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 0.8 steals across 34 games this season.
