According to ESPN NBA Insider Brian Windhorst, the Boston Celtics will “most likely” offer F Jayson Tatum a max contract during the upcoming offseason. (Brian Windhorst on ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Tatum has enjoyed a breakout season with the Celtics in 2019, averaging 23.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.9 blocks in 35 minutes per game. This after averaging just 14.8 points per game in his previous two seasons combined. Make no mistake about it, Tatum became a superstar in this league once Kyrie Irving left for Brooklyn in free agency in the summer of 2019. He’s the missing piece to the puzzle that Boston has been trying to solve since the days of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen. Tatum is currently in the 3rd year of his rookie deal of four years, $30M, but the Celtics will likely reward the former 2017 third-overall pick with a max contract that could be upwards of $200M for his efforts this season. Look for Tatum to take the reigns of this Boston Celtics squad and become a cornerstone of their team for years to come.
