Reflecting on his rookie season in Atlanta, Hawks rookie G/F Cam Reddish told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “I definitely want to be known as one of the best two-way players [in the NBA].” (Sarah K. Spencer on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

These words come just over a month after Reddish received praise from Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk who said, “he’s got a really bright future [in Atlanta].” Reddish has already obtained an identity as a great defender in the NBA, a trait that normally takes many years for young players to develop. He admittedly struggled on offense in the early part of the season, which helped him focus on the defensive side of the ball. “I think that’s why it was so tough at the beginning of the season, just trying to get my rhythm and my flow and stuff like that,” Reddish said. “It was a pain in the butt for a little bit, but I think everything happens for a reason, so I thank God for it. I think it made me a better defender, a better athlete. So it worked out for me.” Reddish started in 34 of the 58 games he played in 2019, averaging 10.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 26.7 minutes per game. He shot a lackluster 38.4% from the field this season, but his shot improved in February, when he shot 44.1% from the field. The offense will come for Reddish, but he prides himself on his defensive prowess. At this rate, he’ll become a fantastic player for the Hawks and a tremendous 9-cat fantasy asset moving forward in his career.
