Luka Doncic ‘not in the best shape,’ but will be ready when season resumes

by Adam Koffler | Mavericks Correspondent | Thu, Jun 11th 9:31am EDT

According to his trainer, Jure Drakslar, Mavericks G Luka Doncic “is not in the best shape, however, he undoubtedly would be ready to play right now.” (Callie Caplan on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Doncic has been in his home country of Slovenia for most of the NBA shutdown as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Certainly he’s been working out and training, but Drakslar did inform reporters that he’s not in the best shape. He also said however that this is completely normal and that he expects Doncic will have plenty of time to prepare between mid-June and July 31 when the NBA is scheduled to resume. Doncic was having an incredible sophomore season before the shutdown, averaging 28.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 1.1 steals in 33 minutes per game. He’s a bonafide superstar in this league and should only continue to improve early on in his career.
