Nerlens Noel tweaked his ankle in practice this week, as stated by coach Billy Donovan during today’s Zoom Call. Despite the minor set-back, Noel has been able to do some light jogging and non-contact work. Donovan said that they expect to have him back by Sunday or Monday. (Erik Horne on Twitter)
There doesn’t seem to be anything preventing Noel from resuming his primary back-up duties, as the Thunder prepare for next week. This year he has played in 55 contests and has averaged 18.4 minutes of playing time, 7.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game, all while shooting 68.5 percent from the floor. Nerlens has been a healthy contributor off the bench and could be an asset to your team in deep-league play. He has the potential to be a sneaky salary relief asset in other formats; however, his inconsistent usage limits his value. A wait-and-see approach would be best to evaluate whether he will be more involved in the rotation.
