Austin Rivers goes off for career-high 41 points in win vs. Kings

by Alex Burns | Sun, Aug 9th 10:32pm EDT

Austin Rivers exploded for 41 points (14-20 FG, 7-8 FT, 6-11 3PT), six rebounds, four assists and two steals across 33 minutes during the Rockets 129-112 victory over the Kings on Sunday night.

Fantasy Impact:

Simply put, Rivers was in his bag on Sunday, torching the Kings en route to a career-high 41 points on 70 percent shooting. With Russell Westbrook (quad) once again sitting out, Rivers took full advantage of the extra playing time and actually outscored James Harden on night. It would be asinine to expect Rivers to replicate this performance going forward, but the 28-year-old guard will look to keep things rolling on Tuesday against the Spurs. It is worth noting that Mike D'Antoni stated that it was 'looking likely' that Eric Gordon (ankle) and Westbrook could return to the lineup on Tuesday, which will certainly cut away some of Rivers' playing time.
