Javonte Green surprises in spot start, sets new career-high with 23 points

Celtics rookie Javonte Green started in place of Gordon Hayward and delivered 23 points (8-17 FG, 3-9 3PT, 4-4 FT) with four rebounds and four turnovers across 34 minutes in Thursday's loss to the Wizards.

Green set a new career-high by scoring 23 points on 17 attempts while also hitting the most three's in a game (3) in his young career. With the Celtics starters resting, he was able to seize the moment and pace the short-handed Celtics in a narrow defeat. Green will not earn much playing time in the playoffs but should be serviceable bench depth if needed. He finishes his first season in the NBA, averaging 3.4 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in 48 games for Boston this year.
